These programs support youth (14- 29) in their transition into adulthood. They include a variety of intervention initiatives to promote healthy lifestyle choices such as sexual health, substance use, education, employment readiness and social skills.
Youth Lifestyles This is a leadership group aimed at readying youth for the workplace. It provides a broad look at the physical, mental, spiritual, social and environmental aspects of health.
This community-based violence prevention program focuses on leadership
development and life skills training for school-aged youth. This program
is funded in part by the City of Toronto. Legal Arts
This program, offered in partnership with Community Legal Aid Services
Program (CLASP) teaches youth about their rights within the legal system,
and use creative art forms to educate others in the community. Emery S.A.V.E.
This violence prevention program is offered at a local high school (Emery
C.I.) in partnership with the Toronto District School Board and local
social service agencies. Teen Moms on the Move/Positive Possibilities
This group shows teen moms the possibilities for young women caring for
themselves and their children. It focuses on developing parenting and life
skills, and tackles everyday issues such as stress management, housing and
employment. Youth Talk
This program offered to elementary & middle schools in the Jane-Finch area
provides opportunities for youngsters to voice their issues and concerns.
It also allows them to build positive relationships with their peers and
health care providers. School and Nutrition
This program helps young people develop a healthy body image. They learn
about healthy eating habits while at school get fun exercise tips from
health professionals. Summer Youth Leadership
This program provides leadership training while promoting volunteerism and
community involvement during the summer months. Young Stars BCCHC youth staff work with emerging grass-roots and ethno-specific youth groups to develop their potential.
This program, in partnership with the City of Toronto, offers youth and
adults an opportunity to discover themselves through art as a strategy to
deal with violence and other issues in their lives.
